Nacre Creative has always been about the joy of making something with your own hands. From jewellery and ceramics to painting, embroidery and everything in between, we’ve always believed that creativity doesn’t have to be complicated: it just has to make you want to put your phone down, slow down for a little while and make something.
And lately, we’ve found ourselves falling completely in love with knitting. So, naturally, yarn had to happen.
Why yarn, and why now?
Nacre has changed a lot since we first started. What began with DIY kits and creative workshops has slowly grown into something much bigger: a place for discovering new hobbies, learning new skills and finding small ways to bring creativity back into everyday life.
The more Nacre evolved, the more we realised that we didn’t just want to show you what to make. We wanted to bring you the materials we genuinely love using ourselves. Beautiful, high-quality supplies that make the process feel just as special as the finished piece.
Knitting fits perfectly into that world.
It’s slow. It’s tactile. It requires your hands and just enough attention to quiet everything else for a while. Row by row, something starts to appear where there was previously just a ball of yarn.
And perhaps our favourite part: at the end, you get to wear it.
We didn’t add yarn because we wanted another product category. We added it because knitting feels like everything Nacre has been slowly becoming.
Why we chose Knitting for Olive?
When we decided to introduce yarn at Nacre Creative, we knew we wanted to be selective.
We weren’t interested in filling shelves with hundreds of options simply for the sake of having more. We wanted beautiful natural fibres, exceptional quality, colours we would genuinely want to wear, and a brand whose approach to production aligned with ours.
That led us to Knitting for Olive.
Based in Copenhagen, Knitting for Olive is known for its beautiful natural yarns, thoughtful colour palettes and commitment to responsible production.
For our first yarn collection, we selected two of their most beautiful fibres: 100% Merino and Soft Silk Mohair.
100% Merino
Their Merino is made in Italy from traceable, non-mulesed merino wool from Patagonia. It’s incredibly versatile, breathable and naturally temperature-regulating, making it one of those yarns you can reach for again and again.

Soft Silk Mohair
Soft Silk Mohair is an airy blend of 70% RMS-certified kid mohair and 30% mulberry silk. Featherlight and beautifully fluffy, it can be knitted on its own or held together with Merino to add softness, texture and that slightly dreamy halo we love so much.

And then, of course, there are the colours.
We carefully selected a Nacre palette from the Knitting for Olive colour universe — from soft Oatmeal, Snowflake and Dusty Rose to deep Bordeaux, Bottle Green and Navy Blue.
Colours designed to become things you’ll actually want to wear.

Why we fell in love with knitting?
There is something wonderfully analogue about knitting.
You can’t scroll through it. You can’t rush it very much. And there is no button that makes it instantly finished. Instead, you sit down and make one stitch. Then another. Then another. It gives your hands something to do while your mind gets a little quieter. We love hobbies that remind us that not everything needs to be productive, fast or perfect. Sometimes spending an evening making ten centimetres of a sweater is enough. And unlike so much of what we consume every day, knitting leaves you with something tangible.
A scarf. A sweater. A cardigan.
Something that carries the hours you spent making it.

This is only the beginning
Our new yarn collection is just the beginning of this next little chapter at Nacre.
We’re starting with a carefully selected palette of Knitting for Olive Merino and Soft Silk Mohair, but there is much more we want to explore.
Think knitting inspiration, colour combinations, patterns, projects and eventually beautiful DIY knitting kits designed to make starting your next project a little easier.
Whether you’ve been knitting for years or have never held a pair of needles before, we hope this collection makes you want to make something.
Slowly. Imperfectly. With your own two hands.
