Knitting Basics (Barcelona)
Important: this workshop will be held in English 🇬🇧
🧶 Knitting Basics Workshop – Learn the Foundations of the Knitting Art! ✨
Have you always been curious about knitting but never knew where to start? Or maybe you’ve already tried it, but you’d love a solid foundation to build on with confidence? This workshop is for you! In a warm, supportive environment, you'll learn the essential knitting techniques, get to know the tools, and go home with a small swatch you’ve knitted yourself.
✨ What We’ll Do
📜 A brief history of knitting – A quick overview of where knitting comes from and how it became a beloved modern craft.
🧰 Tool introduction – Meet the most important tools: cotton yarn, straight needles, and a few additional accessories. You’ll learn what they’re used for and how to choose the right tools as a beginner.
📚 Reading patterns – We’ll walk through how to interpret basic knitting instructions.
🧵 Casting on – Learn two essential methods: single cast-on and longtail cast-on.
🔁 Practicing the basic stitches – On a small swatch (square or coaster), we’ll practice: knit stitch, purl stitch, garter stitch, stockinette stitch
All at a relaxed pace, with plenty of hands-on practice and personal guidance.
🎯 Who Is This For?
- Total beginners who have never knitted before
- Anyone who has tried knitting but wants clean, structured fundamentals
- Those looking for a slow, relaxing, mindful creative hobby
By the end of the workshop, you’ll confidently cast on stitches, knit and purl, and understand the logic behind knitting — the foundation you need to later create scarves, hats, sweaters, or patterned pieces.

What should I wear?
There’s no dress code — wear whatever makes you feel good. Most of our workshops can get a little hands-on, but nothing too dramatic.
That said, maybe leave the irreplaceable vintage silk blouse at home. Just in case creativity gets messy. ✨
Do I need any experience?
Absolutely not. That’s what we’re here for. ✨
Our workshops are designed for complete beginners, so no previous experience or secret artistic talent required. We’ll guide you through the process step by step, demonstrate the techniques and be there whenever you need a little help.
Can kids join?
Absolutely, little creatives are very welcome. 🎨
Most of our workshops are suitable from age 7+. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult with their own workshop ticket — because watching from the sidelines is no fun. Everyone gets to create. ✨
Please note that age recommendations may vary depending on the workshop, so check the individual workshop description before booking.
Workshop Language
Most of our workshops are bilingual and can be followed in both Hungarian and English, however, this may vary depending on the workshop.
In Budapest, we currently do not offer workshops held exclusively in English, while our Barcelona workshops are held in English.
If you’d like to confirm the language of a specific workshop before booking, please contact us at info@nacrecreative.com, and we’ll be happy to help.
