Sketching Basics
✏️ Sketching Basics Workshop – Discover that you can draw! ✨
Have you always felt drawn to sketching but never knew how to start? Or maybe you’ve tried before but lacked confidence or solid foundations? This workshop is all about discovering sketching in a playful, pressure-free way while experimenting with exciting professional materials — including Faber-Castell graphite and colored pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, and Winsor & Newton ink and fineliners.
The goal isn’t perfection, but the experience itself: realizing that you can draw much better than you think.
What will happen during the workshop?
📜 A playful introduction to sketching – We begin with fun drawing exercises using your non-dominant hand or drawing without looking at the paper, helping tension dissolve and performance pressure disappear — showing everyone that there’s no such thing as a mistake here.
📚 Understanding sketching basics – We walk through simple drawing principles: breaking objects into basic shapes, building drawings step by step, and creating depth using shading and line work.
🧰 Medium Playground – experimenting with different tools. Usually the favorite part of the workshop. We draw the same object using different materials:
- Faber-Castell graphite pencils
- charcoal
- Faber-Castell colored pencils
- oil pastels
- Winsor & Newton ink and fineliners
You’ll discover how each medium creates a completely different effect and learn how to choose tools that suit your own style.
✏️ Quick confidence-building exercises – Through playful guided exercises, we practice simplifying objects, experimenting with shading, and creating fast, expressive sketches that help build confidence.
🎨 Creating your final sketch – Using the techniques explored, everyone creates their own finished sketch based on a chosen subject — still life, plants, coffee & croissant, portrait reference, or even a personal object. Throughout the process, you’ll receive guidance in composition, shading, and line work.
✏️ Mini exhibition – At the end, we display everyone’s work, take a group photo, and participants share one thing they love about their drawing. For many, this is the moment they realize: “I actually drew something.”
